The Honourable Commissioner for Youth Affairs, Osun State, Hon. Olagunju Moshood Olalekan, on Friday represented the Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, at the swearing-in and official opening ceremony of the 2026 Batch 'B' Stream II National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Course held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede.
The event provided another opportunity for the Osun State Government to reaffirm its unwavering commitment to youth development, national unity, and the welfare of corps members serving in the state.
The Commissioner led a high-powered government delegation comprising the Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth Affairs, Hon. Samshudeen Oyeniyi; the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Affairs, Hon. Mrs. Taiwo Oladunjoye; and the Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Affairs, Hon. Abdulmajeed Oyeniyi, all of whom attended the ceremony.
Delivering Governor Adeleke's address, Hon. Olagunju warmly welcomed the 2026 Batch 'B' Stream II corps members, including those redeployed from Lagos State, and congratulated them on the successful commencement of their national service in Osun State.
He assured the corps members of Governor Adeleke's unwavering commitment to their welfare, security, and well-being, emphasizing that the administration remains dedicated to providing a peaceful, conducive, and enabling environment throughout their service year.
The Governor, through the Commissioner, charged the corps members to uphold the core ideals of the National Youth Service Corps by demonstrating patriotism, discipline, integrity, diligence, and selfless service to the nation. He urged them to remain law-abiding at all times, channel any grievances through appropriate and peaceful means, and serve as worthy ambassadors of the Scheme and positive role models within their host communities.
Governor Adeleke further encouraged the corps members to embrace Nigeria's rich cultural diversity by fostering unity, building enduring friendships across ethnic and religious lines, respecting one another's differences, and promoting peaceful coexistence. He also advised them to strictly adhere to the rules and regulations governing the orientation exercise in order to derive maximum benefit from the programme.
The Governor commended the Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier General O.O. Nafiu, for the Scheme's remarkable contributions to national development through education, healthcare, agriculture, rural development, and youth empowerment. He equally applauded the Osun State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mr. Ekeng Ita Kubiangha, alongside the management team, for their dedication and commitment to nurturing responsible, productive, and patriotic Nigerian youths.
Reaffirming his administration's youth-friendly policies, Governor Adeleke assured the corps members that Osun State remains one of the most peaceful, secure, and hospitable states in the federation, where they can serve with confidence while making meaningful contributions to community and national development.
As Osun State prepares for the forthcoming 2026 Governorship Election, the ceremony further underscored the Adeleke administration's sustained investment in youth development, inclusive governance, and human capital advancement. Through the Ministry of Youth Affairs under the leadership of Hon. Olagunju Moshood Olalekan, the administration continues to implement impactful, people-centered, and youth-focused policies designed to empower young people as strategic partners in the growth, peace, and sustainable development of Osun State.
The ceremony concluded with the formal declaration of the 2026 Batch 'B' Stream II NYSC Orientation Course open, marking the beginning of a new chapter of service, leadership, patriotism, and nation-building for corps members deployed to Osun State.
