The Osun State Commissioner for Youth Affairs, Honourable Olagunju Moshood Olalekan (OMO), received in his office Mr. Dada David, a talented young athlete from Osogbo who recently clinched the top spot in the bike race category at the prestigious 2025 Southwest Auto Rally held in Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State.
The 2025 Southwest Auto Rally, which attracted over 100 racers and bikers from across Nigeria, was held at the custom-built racing tracks adjacent to the renowned Smokin Hills Golf Course in Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State.
Mr. Dada was accompanied by a team of fellow motorsports, enthusiasts and colleagues including Fasasi Sikiru (Ede North), Ojetokun Segun (Ejigbo), Olapade Isiaq (Ede North), Ogundengbe Ojo (Ife), Giwa Babatunde (Ife), and Oladepo Muideen (Ede), who came along to show their support and celebrate his remarkable achievement.
During the visit, Honourable Olagunju warmly welcomed the delegation, and congratulated Mr. Dada on his outstanding performance. He commended the young champion and exceptional skilled rider, acknowledging his perseverance, and dedication. Commissioner Olagunju noted that the rider's triumph is not only a personal milestone but a pride for Osun State.
However, Commissioner Olagunju took time to acknowledge the colleagues who accompanied Mr. Dada, praising their team work, enthusiasm, and commitment to promoting sport development in Osun. “Your presence here today shows the bond of friendship, teamwork, and mutual encouragement among the youth,” the Commissioner noted. “This is the kind of collective spirit we want, and we are aching to see more.”
The Commissioner further emphasized the importance of platforms like the Auto Rally unveiling and nurturing young talents. While reaffirming the Osun State Government’s commitment under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke to youth empowerment and development across all sectors.
Mr. Dada expressed his appreciation to Honourable Olagunju and the Osun State Government for their support and encouragement. He described his experience at the Auto Rally as thrilling and transformative, pledging to continue developing his skill and representing Osun State with pride in future competitions.
Mr. Dada's victory in the bike race category highlights the diverse talent pool that participates in the prominent motorsports competition, further solidifying its reputation as a key driver of sports tourism.
