As preparations gather momentum for the August 15, 2026, Osun State gubernatorial election, the Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Dr. Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, and the Honourable Commissioner for Youth Affairs, Hon. Olagunju Moshood Olalekan, have called on youths across the state to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and committed to the democratic process.
The appeal was made during a strategic meeting held on Wednesday at the Government House, Okefia, Osogbo, where Hon. Olagunju led the representatives of various youth organisations under the umbrella of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Osun State Chapter, on a courtesy visit to Governor Adeleke.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Olagunju described Governor Adeleke as a visionary leader whose administration has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to youth empowerment and development through impactful policies, programmes, and opportunities. He commended the Governor's sustained investment in the welfare and advancement of young people across the state.
The Commissioner urged Osun youths to continue supporting the Governor while conducting themselves peacefully before, during, and after the election. He emphasised the importance of preserving the state's peaceful atmosphere and encouraged them to reject all forms of violence, electoral malpractice, and acts capable of undermining the credibility of the electoral process.
Hon. Olagunju further reminded the youths that every legitimate vote counts and assured them that adequate security arrangements would be in place to safeguard lives and property throughout the election period.
In his remarks, Governor Adeleke expressed appreciation to the youths of Osun State for their maturity, peaceful disposition, and unwavering support for his administration. He urged them to sustain the prevailing atmosphere of peace across the state, participate responsibly in the electoral process, and continue serving as ambassadors of unity and progress. The Governor also offered prayers for their continued success, safety, and well-being.
Speaking on behalf of the youth constituency, the Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Osun State Chapter, Comrade Akinbode Olukolupo Olusegun, commended Governor Adeleke for his remarkable achievements, particularly in advancing youth-centred policies and programmes that have positively transformed the lives of young people across the state. He reaffirmed the commitment of Osun youths to promoting peaceful coexistence and supporting credible democratic processes.
