The Osun Youth Movement has unequivocally endorsed the proactive stance of the Honourable Commissioner for Youth Affairs in advocating for gender parity in the nomination process for the forthcoming youth conference.
In a statement released by the Movement’s Public Relations Officer, Comrade Adebayo Gbenga, the group lauded the Commissioner’s resolute commitment to equitable representation, describing it as a laudable stride towards inclusiveness and balanced participation. According to the Movement, ensuring that both male and female youths are equitably represented is not only a moral imperative but a democratic necessity.
"The Commissioner’s deliberate effort to amplify women’s voices in a historically male-dominated space demonstrates progressive leadership and a deep understanding of the value of diversity in decision-making," the statement read.
The Osun Youth Movement emphasized that gender-inclusive dialogue is crucial to crafting outcomes that truly reflect the aspirations and realities of the wider youth demographic in Osun State. It further stated that a conference devoid of diverse perspectives would be inherently limited in its scope and effectiveness.
By aligning with the Commissioner’s vision, the Osun Youth Movement is reaffirming its dedication to a participatory future one where every voice, irrespective of gender, is not only welcomed but empowered.
The Movement also pledged its readiness to collaborate with the Office of the Commissioner for Youth Affairs in ensuring the successful execution of the conference, while reinforcing its broader vision for a more inclusive, equitable, and forward-looking Osun State.
