INDEPENDENCE DAY: COMMISSIONER OLAGUNJU CHARGES OSUN YOUTHS ON PATRIOTISM, UNITY, NATION-BUILDING
The Osun State Commissioner for Youth Affairs, Hon. Olagunju Moshood Olalekan, has charged youths across the state to embrace patriotism, unity, responsible citizenship and constructive engagement as Nigeria commemorates its Independence anniversary.

In a goodwill message marking the occasion, the Commissioner described Nigerian youths as a critical force in the nation’s socio-economic and political development, stressing that their energy, creativity, resilience and innovative capacity must be deliberately harnessed towards building a stronger, more prosperous and united Nigeria.

Hon. Olagunju urged Osun youths to remain committed to peace, democratic values and national cohesion while taking full advantage of the various opportunities provided by the administration of Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke in the areas of skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, education, innovation and personal development.

He emphasised that nation-building is a collective responsibility that extends beyond government, calling on young people to actively contribute to the development of their communities and the state through responsible civic participation, constructive engagement and initiatives that promote unity and peaceful coexistence.

The Commissioner further urged youths to remain hopeful, resilient and productive despite prevailing socio-economic challenges, noting that young people are not merely leaders of tomorrow but critical stakeholders in the development of Nigeria today.

According to him, “The future of Nigeria is inseparable from the capacity, character and commitment of its young people. We must therefore continue to empower our youths, create opportunities for them and encourage them to channel their energy, talents and creativity towards positive national development.”

Hon. Olagunju reaffirmed the commitment of the administration of Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke to youth development, empowerment and inclusion, noting that sustained investment in the potential of young people remains essential to achieving inclusive and sustainable development.

He called for greater unity and collective responsibility among Nigerians, stressing that the challenges confronting the country require the active participation and patriotism of every citizen, particularly the younger generation.

The Commissioner expressed optimism that with renewed patriotism, unity, responsible citizenship and a shared commitment to national progress, Nigeria would continue to overcome its challenges and achieve greater prosperity.

Hon. Olagunju congratulated the people of Osun State and Nigerians at home and abroad on the Independence anniversary, wishing them a peaceful, meaningful and memorable celebration.
