Governor Adeleke Champions Healthy Living, Commissions Students’ Hostel at FUHSI

The Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, has reaffirmed his administration’s strong commitment to promoting healthy living and advancing quality education with the commissioning of a newly constructed students’ hostel at the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun (FUHSI), on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.

 

The Governor was represented at the event by the Commissioner for Youth Affairs, Hon. Olagunju Moshood Olalekan, who led participants on a fitness walk alongside residents and stakeholders prior to the official commissioning ceremony. The hostel project was facilitated by Hon. Clement Akanni Olohunwa, Member of the House of Representatives, as part of efforts to improve students’ welfare and learning conditions at the institution.

 

The event attracted several dignitaries, including Hon. Clement Akanni Olohunwa (Member, House of Representatives), Hon. Bajepade (Member, Osun State House of Assembly), Hon. Ayo Awolowo (Commissioner for Women Affairs), Chairmen of Boluwaduro, Ila and Ifedayo Local Government Areas, Hon. Sunday Bisi, the Vice-Chancellor of FUHSI, Prof. Lasisi Akeem, the Orangun of Ila, Oba Wahab Kayode Oyedotun, the Orangun of Oke-Ila, Oba Abolarin Adedokun Omoniyi, other royal fathers, and key stakeholders.

 

Speaking at the event, which commenced with the fitness walk, Hon. Olagunju Moshood Olalekan, on behalf of the Governor, described the exercise as a timely initiative that underscores the importance of good health as the foundation for productivity, longevity, and sustainable development. He encouraged residents to adopt regular physical activity as part of their daily lifestyle, noting that a healthy populace is essential for the overall progress of the state.

 

Governor Adeleke commended Hon. Clement Akanni Olohunwa for what he described as a thoughtful, people-centered intervention, stressing that initiatives that promote health, education, and community development reflect responsive and compassionate leadership.

 

On the newly commissioned hostel, the Governor noted that the facility represents a significant milestone in the steady growth of the young institution. He emphasized that adequate and decent accommodation plays a critical role in enhancing students’ welfare, promoting discipline, and creating a conducive learning environment, thereby improving academic outcomes.

 

Reiterating his administration’s development priorities, Governor Adeleke affirmed that education remains central to Osun State’s development agenda. He assured that the state government would continue to support institutions of learning across the state, including federally established institutions, in recognition of their direct impact on host communities and the future of the youth.

 

The Governor added that the progress recorded across the state is a product of purposeful leadership and the continued support of the people, expressing optimism that sustained collaboration among stakeholders would accelerate development in Osun State.

 

The ceremony concluded with the formal commissioning of the students’ hostel for use, marking another important step in the advancement of educational infrastructure and student welfare in the state.
