The Commissioner for Youth Affairs, Honorable Olagunju Moshood Olalekan, under the administration of the executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, spearheaded a transformative Skills Acquisition Training for 100 youth in Osun State. The event, held at the Moremi Events Hall, State Government Secretariat, Abeere, aimed to eradicate the poverty rate in Osun State by equipping young individuals
with essential vocational skills to enhance their employability and entrepreneurial potential.
Hon. Olagunju's initiative focused on practical skills training in areas such as Tie & Dye and various confectioneries including puff-puff, cakes, samosas, and spring rolls. The training sessions were designed to be highly educative, ensuring participants gained hands-on experience and valuable knowledge in their chosen vocations.
In a move to further support the youth, the Ministry provided monetary assistance to the participants, encouraging them to utilize the funds to start their businesses based on the skills they acquired during the training. This empowerment initiative is expected to foster self-reliance and economic growth among the young population of Osun State.
The event was graced by several notable figures, including the Chairman House Committee on Youth Affairs, Hon. Abiola Awoyeye; Hon. Stephen Famokunwa, SSA on Imole Youth; Hon. Adebisi Emmanuel, SSA on Civil Society; Hon. Segun Oyewale, SA on Youth Mobilization; Prince Idowu Gbenga, Osun PDP Youth Leader; Hon Eddy Olowookere, SA to the Governor of Governors office and SUBEB; Mrs. Taiwo Oladunjoye, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth Affairs; The Caretaker Chairman of National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Com. Abdulmajeed Oyeniyi; All directors in the Ministry.
These dignitaries, including the Oba of Oke-Ila represented by his Queen, underscored the importance of such initiatives in driving youth development and economic empowerment in the state.
The Skills Acquisition Training at Moremi Hall, Abere, Osogbo, not only provided valuable vocational training but also served as a platform for promoting community spirit and collaboration among the youth.
