Governor Adeleke Committed to Strengthening Security of Lives and Properties of Osun People

The Honourable Commissioner for Youth Affairs, Hon. Olagunju Moshood Olalekan (OMO), today received the leadership of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), Osun State Command, in a courtesy visit to his office.

Addressing the delegation, Honourable Commissioner Olagunju expressed his open-door policy and encouraged the VGN to leverage his accessibility to strengthen their partnership with Governor Senator Nurudeen Ademola Jackson Adeleke-led state government. He affirmed Governor Adeleke's readiness to support their activities and empower their group, acknowledging the vital role the VGN plays in safeguarding lives and properties.

Mr. Bello Wasiu Aderemi, the State Commander of the VGN, through the Public Relations Officer, expressed appreciation and outlined the group's contributions and needs. He highlighted the VGN's alliance with Governor Adeleke's administration, detailing their security efforts across the state. He then requested for sponsorship for their upcoming Vigilante Week and  security resources like: patrol vehicles and equipments, regular training, a central administrative office, and formal integration into the state's security framework with allowances for their officers.

Stakeholders of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria were in attendance. The Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Taiwo Oladunjoye, and the Special Assistant on Youth Affairs, Aare Mojeed Oyeniyi from the ministry of Youth Affairs were present to mention but few. The VGN delegation includes: The Deputy State Coordinator, Oparinde Segun Olatunde; State Admin, Kareem Olatoye; State Protocol Officer, Adeniyi James; State Market & Motor Park Commander, Oseni Latifat Temilade; State Intelligent Officer, Obafemi Temitope Sunday; Tactical Commander, Naseer Olayemi Dada; and Public Relations Officer, Ogunwole Gabriel Abiodun.

Various members of the VGN delegation expressed their gratitude and support for the Commissioner and the state government. The VGN Deputy State Coordinator, Mr. Oparinde Segun Olatunde, commended the Commissioner's accessibility. The State Market & Motor Park Commander, Mrs. Oseni Latifat Temilade, offered prayers for the Commissioner and the state. However, The Tactical Commander, Naseer Olayemi Dada, pledges full support in achieving a crime-free Osun State, highlighting their strength and capacity in securing the State. The state Admin, Mr. Kareem Olatoye, advocates for the formal adoption of VGN as a state-owned security. The VGN state Intelligent Officer, Mr. Obafemi Temitope Sunday, lauds the Commissioner's suitability for his role, noting his appointment as a round peg in a round hole.

Conclusion was made with a shared commitment to improve  security in the state and to collaborate with Osun State government under Governor Adeleke's leadership.
